Hometown: I lived all over Canada growing up, but I call Calgary home now.

Class Year: 2009-2012

Prior Education: Bachelor of Arts, Major in Political Science from Mount Allison University

What did you do before Law School? I did a few things between undergrad and law school: Executive Assistant to two provincial MLAs, Executive Director of a Provincial Sports Association, and Youth Program Coordinator for the Town of Drayton Valley, Alberta. I also part-own a PR and communications business here in Calgary called Corrence Phineas Ltd.

What are you hoping to do with your degree? Hopefully practice in a big corporate firm here in Calgary.

What has been your experience the U of C Law School so far? Great – it’s exactly where I want to be.

Describe your extra-curricular activities at the U of C: I volunteer with Student Legal Assistance and I’m First Year Events Rep for the Society of Law Students.

Have you done, or are you currently doing, any public service? I’ve volunteered extensively in municipal, provincial and federal election campaigns. I was also recently volunteer coordinator for my community association, and I do a lot of pro bono work through a PR and communications firm I own with a friend, including helping with the 2009 Calgary Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion Event and an education project in Sri Lanka.

What advice would you give to students looking to go to law school? Volunteer and get connected to be people who improve things here in Calgary. I think the University of Calgary values those kinds of people, and I think it helps when you’re looking for employment opportunities down the road.
