About Us
..representation of student concerns, and the promotion of the U of C's Law Program.
The Society of Law Students (SLS) is comprised of all Bachelor of Laws' students enrolled at the University of Calgary . The executive is comprised of a nine member board which is primarily responsible for representation of student concerns, planning of student activities to ensure the law school experience extends beyond the classroom, and the promotion and expansion of the University of Calgary's Law Program beyond campus.
We work tirelessly to provide students extra-curricular activities.
SLS executive and faculty-student committees work with faculty on policy regarding the admission of new students, selection of curriculum, and as liaison between faculty administration and students. We work tirelessly to provide students extra-curricular activities in the area of intramural sport, coordination of a delegation for Law Games, and on promoting academic competitions. Our off-campus activities are oriented around attempting to strengthen our ties with the regional legal community and take the form of Career Fairs and Social Events with firms in the region to help introduce future lawyers with employers.
The SLS is also responsible for fundraising events for graduation events and conducts numerous functions designed to improve the amenities available to law students including locker assignments and working with Career Services to ensure our members are able to put their best foot forward as they begin the legal career.
